Pharmacogenetics
Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States costing millions of dollars in healthcare costs each year. The field of genomic medicine presents one potential solution to reduce health care costs associated with ADRs and poor response to pharmacotherapy. It can also increase drug efficacy while improving patient compliance.
For Providers
A patient’s metabolic profile gives physicians the extra information they need to adjust drug treatments for maximum effectiveness with a lower risk of adverse effects. Results are delivered in color-coded reports to alert prescribers when a dose adjustment or alternative drug should be considered. Therapeutic recommendations are based on evidence supported by studies and clinical trials.
